Holy Items
Skill, Magical/Alchemical
Making holy oil, holy symbols, holy water, sacred articles and votive candles; limited to practitioners of Divine Magic or Mysticism.
From the book
Practitioners of Divine Magic or Mysticism can make five kinds of holy items.
Holy oil is rubbed on the body before invocations, exorcisms and other rites, granting the faithful +1 saves for an hour; each dram takes a day and 5 GP. A holy symbol, made in a day from wood (1 SP), silver (1 GP) or gold (5 GP or more), is a strong deterrent in the right hands: undead, demons and devils must save vs Will each turn or be unable to come near. It also helps seal pacts during summoning, and shops dealing in religious goods sell them.
Holy water deals 2-12 damage per vial to undead, demons and devils, gives people or items sprinkled with it +1 saves against curses for a day, and eases the symptoms of a minor hex for an hour per vial. It must be made in a vessel that is a sacred article, 10 minutes per vial. Sacred articles are ordinary chalices, censers and the like of good or excellent quality, given a divine or mystical aura in a day; the Game Judge may let them lengthen, widen or strengthen a ritual. They count as magical, burn undead and fiends who touch them for 1-4 a round, and using them outside worship is sacrilege that invites misfortune or divine anger. Votive candles, an hour and 1 GP apiece, give +1 saves to the person they are lit for, wherever that person may be, while they burn.
