Advanced Necromantic Rituals
Skill, Magical/Alchemical
Higher necromancer rites: creating undead, making a sahu (mummy) and casting a necromantic bell to call an ancient spirit.
From the book
Necromancers at the peak of their craft can make any standard corporeal undead, skeletons, ghouls and wights among them, devoting a week to each level of the creature and collecting the ghastly materials from gibbets, battlefields, graveyards or still darker places.
The secret of embalming a body so that it can come back to a form of life belongs to necromancers alone. Mummifying any humanoid corpse takes a week of work and 13 ounces of myrrh. The sahu that results is bound in strips of linen and sealed inside a sarcophagus, and it rises as undead once another week per level of the deceased creature has passed.
A necromantic bell is made from an ounce apiece of seven metals, namely silver, gold, copper, iron, tin, lead and mercury, cast and then ground, polished and inscribed with arcane symbols over the course of a month. When rung it calls up the spirit of an ancient necromancer, an 11th-20th level character played by the Game Judge, who answers a single question about black magic, necromantic ritual or the spirit realm. If summoned no more than once a month the spirit always speaks truly; summoning it more frequently provokes its anger.
