The present era began with the fall of the Hesperian empire. In its first 150 years Atlantis re-emerged as a world power allied with Ophir and friendly with Hesperia, while Tartessos, Qaddan, Sheba and Khitai rose as rival powers; small wars continue but the great powers keep an uneasy peace.

The fall of the Hesperian empire marks the start of the present age. Across its first century and a half Atlantis rose again as a world power, allied to Ophir and on fair terms with its neighbor Hesperia. Tartessos, Qaddan, Sheba and Khitai grew into serious powers as well, and Tartessos in particular worries the Atlanteans. Smaller countries still see plenty of fighting, but the great powers hold to an uneasy and brittle peace.
