The Fells

Past the misty coast the land heaves up and down in great folds of earth and rock. This barren waste, the Fells, was once part of Anostos's two great forests, but generations of Fomorian shipwrights stripped it of trees to build their huge ocean-going ships. Now nothing grows there, and wind and rain have gouged much of it. A reddish haze of dust and fine soil hangs over it; it is harmless but often limits sight to 50-100 feet.

Predators sometimes pass through, but most creatures of Anostos avoid it. Travel on foot is slow and at times dangerous, with rock slides, dust storms, undercut ground and deep ravines all common. Yet only by crossing the Fells can anyone reach the interior of Anostos. Fomorians too old or weak to work may be banished here.
