Seidhr Mountains

The icy Seidhr range runs through Jotunland's interior and stretches toward both its northern and southern parts. Battered by bitter winds and blizzards, it is extremely hostile and thought impossible to cross, yet howling wolves and the unearthly screams of yeti show it is far from empty.

The coastal Jotun believe the mountains are magical, hence the name Seidhr, roughly 'magic', and mine there for the metal of their weapons and armor, using slaves when they can. The work reportedly means digging out huge amounts of ice and snow, and the raw ore, often still locked in ice, is dragged down a frozen river on huge wooden sleds, perhaps rigged with a single mast and sail. The Jotun insist the ore is magical, and it may be: their arms and armor are crude but extremely tough, and when experts examine captured Jotun weapons, 65% show a faint magical dweomer, with some pieces displaying stronger powers.
