Sargasso Sea

This dark, eerie undersea forest hides many curiosities: sunken ships wrapped in giant kelp, skeletons of monstrous sea beasts, rotting bodies of drowned sailors and stranger, less identifiable things. Giant eels, sea dragons and kraken, huge squidlike horrors of malevolent intelligence, prowl its depths hunting fresh prey. Its true masters are the scaly-skinned Makara.

Much of the weed that clogs it drifts from the Tritons' region of Sargo, and together with Antilla its tangled, foul-smelling waters help keep Eria cut off from the east; they choke Mnesea's northwest coast. Some claim the Makara have raised a kind of city deep within it, where the king of all Makara lives in a palace of stone worn smooth by swirling currents, his treasury overflowing with loot from a thousand wrecks. Many scoff, but many Triton clans are slow to dismiss the tale.
