Mestea's dull fishing port, trading mostly in dried cod, with a shady name as a refuge for smugglers and fugitives; Cymbrian corsairs visit and its small, reluctant Poseidonean marine garrison provides little security.

From the book

Mestea's fishing port on the southern coast is a dreary place visited only by fishermen and traders in dried cod and similar wares. Quietly, though, it is known as a bolt-hole for fugitives from Atlantean justice, above all smugglers of contraband and stolen goods, and many Cymbrian corsairs are thought to call there. Security is poor: a small detachment of Poseidonean marines is posted there, and most of them wish they were elsewhere.
