Place, City
Mestea's small but busy hilltop capital port, famed for its late First Age observatory, abandoned in the Dark Age and restored in the Second; astrologers and archimages study there and dignitaries, reputedly even the Council of Kings, seek its forecasts. It also exports timber, furs, hides and amber.
From the book
The capital of Mestea is a small but lively port perched on a hill above the sea. Its fame rests on its ancient observatory, and dignitaries and notables come from abroad seeking counsel on the future and sometimes the past; the Council of Kings is said, though some deny it, to consult its high astrologers before any major policy change. The city also houses many scribes, chart makers, scholars and wizards whose skills serve the astrologers. Trade is in timber, furs, hides and amber, the last dredged from newly found sites on the northeast and northwest coasts.
