Yeti

Creature, The Giant Races

Solitary white-furred giants of mountains and frozen wastes, about eight feet and a quarter ton, related to lemures. Fat-insulated against cold and systemic poisons but vulnerable to heat and fire, they are murderous carnivores that stalk and ambush with startling stealth, go berserk when wounded and never flee; captives die within days.

From the book

Yeti are giant humanoids found only in certain mountains and frozen wastes. They are thought to be close kin to lemures and do look somewhat like those ape-like beings. Massive, often eight feet tall and up to a quarter ton, they wear heavy white fur, with bare faces, palms and soles like lemures. A layer of fat under their thick hide shields them from both systemic poisons and bitter cold, but they cannot stand heat, and fire does them double damage.

Unlike lemures they live alone, and almost nothing is known of their breeding, young or habits; captives sicken and die within days, making study nearly impossible.

Their ferocity, however, is well recorded. People living nearest to them tell of murderous beasts that attack even large groups of men or animals unprovoked and kill even when not hungry. For all their size they move quickly and quietly (silently 95% of the time), are almost invisible in their home terrain, and often catch prey by surprise; they climb well and drop on victims from above when they can, and anyone struck by such a leap or pounce must save vs Strength or be thrown to the ground. They rake with their claws and bite only prey that is dazed or down. Once it has lost more than three-quarters of its hit points, a yeti may fall into a berserk fury that doubles its attacks, and unlike lemures it will not run when outnumbered; its dreadful shriek often sends its victims fleeing instead: anyone who fails a save vs WILL runs in panic for 1-10 minutes. Yeti are believed to be few anywhere, and since they live only in the bleakest places, civilized folk rarely meet them.
