Certain mystics of the east honor a pantheon of demi-gods known as the Immortals. There are hundreds of them, and they are usually worshipped all together rather than one by one, since as a body they stand for the rising of the human spirit and the undying nature of the soul.
All of the Immortals are masters of mysticism. Those who honor them receive their counsel, and now and then a vision of them. It is said that a mystic whose life on earth embodies goodness and humility may, after death, take a place among the Immortals on the spirit plane.
