Devils, painted for this archiveNephilim
Creature, Devils
The swiftest of all devils, the Nephilim carry the edicts and ultimatums of the Arch Devils and sometimes Asmodeus, and their arrival is so ominous that some call them "Angels of Death". They wield magical two-handed great swords, fill anyone within one hundred feet with dread, and when summoned will perform a service or grant a limited wish for no more than one hour.
Also called Nether Devil
From the book
The Nephilim, or Nether Devils, are the fastest of all devils and are found on both the upper and lower planes of Hades. They serve as messengers and envoys of the Arch Devils and sometimes of Asmodeus himself. Since their task is to carry out their masters' decrees, the arrival of a Nephilim on the prime material plane is seen as such a sign of doom that some call them Angels of Death. The name is colorful but not quite accurate: they only occasionally carry out death sentences, and are far more often used to deliver ultimatums, a job they do better than anyone. Their very presence is so overwhelming that anyone within a hundred feet feels a powerful sense of dread.
In battle they wield magical two-handed great swords that slice through any non-magical armor with ease, and even without them they fight well with natural weapons and spells. They fly fast and strongly, can easily carry twice their own weight, and are surprisingly agile for their size. They are on friendly terms with the Jinn and will not fight them unless Asmodeus himself commands it, but their hatred of Deva, guardians and the kalkydri is legendary, and they attack those on sight. Every Nephilim casts High Magic and Black Magic as a 20th level wizard, can teleport or cross dimensions at will, senses invisible, astral and ethereal beings within 1,000 feet and speaks in tongues. Those who fail a save vs WILL against its aura of dread suffer -1 on all attacks and saves while it remains, and its sword is too big and heavy for any being under 10 feet tall.
A summoned Nephilim can be set any service, or asked for a limited wish. It resents menial work, so it is best used only where its imposing presence is truly needed, and it never serves for more than an hour before returning home.
