Golem

Creature, Magical Hybrids and Constructs

Humanoid constructs animated by magic or alchemy, usually from stone, clay or iron, though necromancers build them from flesh and bone. Mindless, they follow up to three programmed commands or single simple orders, and serve spellcasters as guards and labor, being immensely strong, immune to ordinary weapons, and unaffected by charm, hypnosis or illusion.

Also called Golems

From the book

Golems are man-shaped constructs brought to life by magic or alchemy. Most are built of lifeless materials such as stone, clay or iron, but necromancers are known to make them from the flesh or bones of dead people and animals.

Like machinae they have no mind or will of their own and can be programmed with up to three commands. Unlike machinae, a golem can instead be set to obey any plain, direct order its master gives, but only orders about one thing at a time: even a two-part instruction like going to a door and then opening it leaves a golem confused.

Enormously strong, golems serve spell casters as guards, workers and sentries. They are slow and clumsy, but their sheer bulk lets them shift loads up to twice their own weight. Ordinary weapons cannot hurt them and extreme heat or cold usually leaves them untouched, and having no true mind or will, they ignore magical commands, charm, hypnosis and illusion, and they are immune to every kind of poison and to most common magic. In play there are four types: clay golems can be affected only by earth spells, stone golems only by stone spells, metal golems only by electrical energy, and a necromantic golem made of flesh and bone can be controlled from any distance through a graven image.
