Undead
Summoned creature, Creature class
Creatures of the shadow realms bordering Hades and the Abyss that cling to existence by feeding on the life energy of the living. They fear good, can be turned by priests or mystics, and can be compelled into service by necromancers or black magicians.
From the book
Undead come from the shadow realms bordering Hades and the Abyss. Neither alive nor dead, they cling to a semblance of life through sheer evil desire to go on existing, and they hate and envy the living, whose life energy they feed on; one met in a deserted place has a 50% chance of being crazed with hunger and will attack whatever the odds. Every undead dreads the power of good, and priests or mystics can turn them. Corporeal undead lean toward chaos and are drawn to demonkind, while non-corporeal ones tend to be lawful evil and keep company with devils.
A necromancer or practitioner of black magic can summon undead to serve. The Summon Undead spell, open only to necromancers and witchdoctors, calls one undead of lower level than the caster to carry out a single command before returning home; it needs no offering, though the circle and triangle must still be drawn, and necromancers seal pacts with undead easily. A slain necromancer cannot be raised, but returns on the thirteenth day after death as an undead: a skeleton, zombie, ghoul, barrow wight, mummy, vampire, phantom, ghost, spectre or yatu (lich).
