Grimalkin

The grimalkin, or shadow cat, is a minor devil. It has a level of ability of 3 and a Will of 8. Minor devils serve as familiars or perform a single service. Black Magic's Summon Familiar and High Magic's Minor Evocation can call them; a caster who only dabbles in black magic rolls to see which familiar answers, while a necromancer may choose. A familiar serves loyally until dismissed, but Summon Familiar can be cast only once a year. A dabbler's familiar summons brings a grimalkin on a roll of 66-70.

Like all devils it comes from Hades, the nine hells, and keeps faithfully to the lawful Order of Ascendancy under Asmodeus. Summoners must be firm: devils aid those of like alignment and purpose but scorn the incompetent and anyone in league with demons, and they attack demons themselves on sight, and every devil dreads the power of good and cannot abide holy symbols.
