After a minute of ritual meditation the caster slips into a light trance in which magic and hidden presences (illusory, invisible, astral or ethereal) become perceptible.

A 1 minute ritual meditation puts the caster into a light, trance-like state of altered consciousness. While it lasts he can do one of two things: sense magic within 10 ft., or perceive any presence that is illusory, invisible, astral or ethereal, as far as his eyes can reach. The trance lasts 1 minute per level of ability.

A scene
Somebody has been eating the hermit's bread. Brother Aldo, a savant who has lived in a grotto in the Forest of Arden for eleven years, has decided the matter needs looking into. He sits cross-legged on his mat, breathes slowly for the space of a minute, and lets his mind slip sideways. The grotto looks the same. The little invisible Sprite sitting on his bread shelf with its cheeks full does not. It freezes, crumbs on its chin, as Aldo slowly raises one eyebrow and holds out his hand for the rest of the loaf.
