Animal Trainer

Hireling

Handlers who tame and train animals of every kind.

From the book

Animal trainers handle, tame and train animals of all kinds, working by the rules of the Animal Training skill. A trainer cannot school a creature of higher level than his or her own, which is why most prefer to start with young animals, and weeks of patient taming must pass before real training begins.

Once tamed, a beast learns to come when called and to obey simple orders like stay, attack or fetch, picking up one further command for each month of work, provided the trainer spends at least four hours a day at it. Among monsters only semi-intelligent kinds, such as hippogriffs, rocs, griffons, winged horses and hippocampi, can be trained. A trained creature is worth at least 100 GP per level, and each extra command it knows usually doubles its value.
