Spellbook

A written record of the spells a caster knows, costing 100 G.P. Most casters keep one because it is handy, and because a spell or potion that robs them of memory would otherwise cost them everything they know. They take many forms, from outsized scrolls and carved wood to stone tablets or folios bound in leather and metal.

Spells cannot be cast from a spellbook. Books of rare spells are useful only for reference, record-keeping and research, where relevant books can earn bonuses. Spellbooks do not count against the limit of seven magic items a person may carry.
