The love philtre takes 1 dr. each of any four of these: jasmine, jonquil, ginseng, dill, clary, caraway, apricot, olive, orchis, periwinkle, red heather. The drinker falls madly in love with the first person whose name he hears spoken. Rather than fading in minutes, the love lasts permanently unless a spell or antidote counters it.
Each philtre stirs up one particular emotion or reaction in the drinker. It is mixed into a pint of wine using a mortar and pestle and a fire, taking 5-8 (d4+4) hours, with a 90% chance of success plus 1% per level of ability (99% at most). The wine makes it very hard to spot: a victim who actually questions what he is being offered may save vs Intelligence at -4 to realize it is not ordinary wine. Once swallowed, it takes hold instantly and allows no save. Philtres usually cost 100 G.P. when available.
