Mu

Mu lies south of Lemuria, a land of volcanoes, tropical forests and white deserts. Like its northern neighbor it is mostly uncivilized, and few travelers have ever gone there. Its climate varies: the eastern rain forests are hot and very humid by day but turn pleasantly cool at night when sea breezes come ashore; the desert is stiflingly hot with almost no moisture in the air; and along the volcanic ridges the heat rises and falls with the volcanoes' activity, while sulphur and other fumes can make the air unsafe to breathe.

Scholars think Mu's unstable foundations foretell disaster. The nearby Elysium islanders have long felt moderate to strong earthquakes and fear that more seismic or volcanic activity could drive them from their own homeland. Darus III, an Atlantean astrologer of the First Age, went further in his respected Prophecies, writing that Mu has twice before risen from the sea and sunk back amid fire and ash, and that having risen again it will sink once more.
