Creature, The Goblin Races
A cruel, evil branch of giant-kind: huge, stinking, shaggy, mottled yellow-brown brutes with pupil-less eyes, immensely strong but easily fooled by illusions, puzzles and tricks. Mostly solitary, they take over a lair and terrorize the area, hoard shiny tribute, eat human flesh and torture prisoners.
From the book
Ogres are an offshoot of giant-kind, tall, broad and massive, and crueller and more wicked than most of their giant kin. They are usually yellowish-brown, with blotchy, scabby skin, shaggy hair, pupil-less eyes and a sickening smell; some are truly malformed, with two heads or three or four arms. Enormously strong and savage, they are also very stupid, easily muddled, fooled by illusion spells, and sidetracked by tricks, riddles or questions, although nothing will pull an ogre away from a victim once it is in a killing rage.
Most live alone, though bands of up to twelve are sometimes met. An ogre likes to seize a cave, a ruined building or some other den and terrorize the country around it, collecting shiny trinkets from ambushed travelers or as tribute from frightened locals. They eat meat, often people, and many are cannibals that will even eat other ogres. They revel in cruelty, favor weapons that smash and crush, and often keep prisoners to torment.
Chiron the Wise tells of a town that appeased an ogre with jewels and a weekly victim chosen by lot, until a wandering mercenary took a victim's place, killed the ogre, and won land, a title and a fortune. Being so dull, ogres are primitive, wearing ragged raw hides and carrying clubs or looted maces and other weapons. They turn up almost anywhere but are uncommon, and few can cooperate with other races.
