Devils fell from the heavens with Asmodeus into the nine hells of Hades. Unlike demons, they want less to destroy mankind than to gather human souls into their realm.

The devil chapter begins with a passage from The Pandiabolus. Ever since Asmodeus and his followers were thrown out of the heavens, devils have plagued humankind. They fell into the nine hells of Hades and can never again walk among the gods. Yet, the book warns, their feelings toward mortals are not a burning hatred. Unlike demons, who want nothing but to tear living flesh whatever the price, devils do not seek our destruction; they want our company, so that we too may burn alongside them in their hellish paradise.
Devils are ranked in orders, from minor devils such as the alastor, imp and grimalkin, through lesser devils and greater devils, up to the Arch Devils and Asmodeus himself.
The appendix lists the traits all devils share: immunity to ordinary weapons, poison, death magic and curses; magic resistance of 5% per level up to 95%; and immunity to every spell of influence or control except those tied to summoning rituals or banishment. A holy symbol forces a devil to save vs WILL or look away from it for one minute.
