Summoned creature, Spirit

A bodiless spirit that serves as a familiar; this category includes shamans' power animals.

Also called Familiar spirit, Power animal

From the book

A familiar spirit is a spirit that takes the form of an animal and serves a caster as a familiar. It has a level of ability of 3 and a Will of 6. The class includes shamans' power animals, whose level always equals that of the shaman they serve.

When someone who only dabbles in black magic casts Summon Familiar, a roll decides what answers: a disembodied spirit (01-02), rat (03-06), bat (07-10), owl (11-14), wolf (15-20), raven (21-30) or black cat (31-65). A familiar always accepts its summoner as master and serves loyally until dismissed. A shaman's power animal, the spirit of a departed animal, is his guardian and familiar for life and grows in level as he does. Every spirit entity dwells on a spirit plane and must put on a physical body whenever it is called into the prime material plane.
