Wraps the caster in a close dome of energy that soaks up a few points of every attack, except from directly below; it keeps off insects, rain and magical gases but also stops him taking in anything from outside.

The caster wraps himself in a dome of energy 1 ft. out from his body. It does not hamper his movement or spell casting, and it soaks up 1 point of any kind of damage for every 2 levels of ability, taking that much off every attack for the whole duration of 1 minute per level. It guards him from every direction except straight below, so spells or attacks that strike from, or work through, the ground under his feet get past it.
Even a 1-point shield fends off biting and stinging insects and keeps him dry in bad weather, and magical mists and gases do not affect him. The drawback is that he cannot eat, drink or take hold of anything that was not already on his person when he cast the spell.

A scene
It is the rainy season on the coast of Oguanabara, and the jungle is one long wet roar of insects. The sorcerer Sextus walks through it perfectly dry, a faint shimmer of force a foot out from his skin. Mosquitoes bounce off it. Rain runs down it. When a hunter's arrow comes out of the trees it strikes him in the shoulder, but with far less force than it should. The only trouble comes at noon, when his guide offers him a gourd of water, and Sextus, parched, simply cannot take it.
