The caster grants himself or one other person a dream with divinatory meaning. When the beneficiary next falls asleep, the dream reveals something about his or her future. The news may be good or bad, but whatever it shows is certain to happen at some point in the dreamer's life.

A scene
Losa has been told that she is too clumsy and too loud ever to marry, and she has come to the old shaman of Manua to ask whether that is true. The shaman gives her nothing but a cup of bitter tea and sends her home. That night Losa dreams of a beach she does not know, and a gray-haired man laughing at something she has said, and three small children fighting over a canoe. She wakes knowing it will happen, though not when. She is still smiling at breakfast.
