The caster travels by astral projection while keeping full awareness of his physical body. He cannot cast spells in this state, but his body stays conscious and mobile, so he could, for example, stand guard over the party while scouting the area in astral form. It lasts 1 minute per level.

A scene
The party has camped at the edge of the Utgard Forest, and no one wants to take the first watch. The mystic Liv takes it herself, sitting upright by the fire with her staff across her knees, alert to every snapping twig. At the same time her astral self is gliding between the dark trees half a mile away, counting the troll fires in the clearing beyond the ridge. When one of the sleepers stirs and mumbles, her body turns its head and tells him, quite calmly, to go back to sleep.
