The caster can sound exactly like any kind of wild animal, reproducing its call without a flaw. The spell grants no power to talk with beasts, but the calls make a handy way to scare off other creatures or draw attention elsewhere. The effect lasts 1 minute per level of ability, and there is no save.

A scene
Ylva had no spear, and the wild boar blocking the trail through the Borean Forest had no patience. She cupped her hands, muttered the old words, and out of her own throat came the deep, wet cough of a brown bear, so perfect that the hair rose on her arms. The boar froze, snorted and crashed away through the bracken. For a few minutes more the Cimmerian witch kept it up, a bear's grumbling roaming the pines, until every jay in the valley had fled. She could not say a word to the boar. She only sounded like the thing it feared.
