Rare earths

Ingredient, Element

An alchemical element used for its innate properties: organic and elemental activators.

From the book

Rare earths are the most vital thing an alchemist handles: the material on which Will is fixed during an experiment, and the catalyst that frees the powers of every other ingredient. They are a mix of elemental matter such as antimony, cinnabar, pitchblend, salts and metal oxides, holding traces of every element.

To anyone else they look like fine sand, yet any alchemist can sift a few drams from ordinary soil in an hour and use them through Projection of Will, a draining feat allowed once a day plus once per three levels.
