Black lotus

Black lotus is a toxic hallucinogenic narcotic. Its powder or smoke is reputed to open the user's mind to E.S.P., clairaudience and clairvoyance for about an hour from a single dram. Each use adds a cumulative 5% chance of incurable addiction; long-time addicts are said to need up to 24 drs. a day to avoid withdrawal that kills 99% of the time. It grows in swamps and costs 200 G.P. per dram, the priciest toxic plant.
