The finest unit of the apothecaries' weight for solids is the grain, and twenty grains make one scruple. The solid scale runs from grains to scruples, drams, ounces and pounds.
These measures, and the signs that go with them, are offered to add color to a campaign and to explain how alchemists weigh and measure their ingredients.
