The Tu-Holo desert forms the heart of Mongala. Huge tribes of ogres roam its sands, living mostly on wild Mongalan ponies but with a special hunger for human flesh, and one tribe is said to breed captive humans as food. The Mongalan nomads graze their herds on the grassy plains along its northern fringe, while the aggressive Kazak horsemen of Himvati live along its southern border.
