A Himvati legend tells of Shamballa, a hidden land laid out like a lotus with eight petals, each petal a separate principality. It holds enchanted gardens, magic fountains and splendid shrines, all cared for by mystics and monks of the highest rank. The lofty peaks called the mountains of the moon ring it and hide it from outsiders. The Himvati say it is a paradise on earth that only the good of heart can find.
