Saba is the largest settlement of the Tamalans and the center of their fire worship. The sacred fire stick, an artifact believed to be very powerful, is kept here. Each year Tamalans journey to Saba with a whale-oil lamp, which the shaman known as the Keeper of the Flame lights from the fire stick, so that every family's fire comes from the one flame.
