Matua's tribe came from the great city of Tang in Khitai: a family and its retainers driven out after a failed coup. On Matua they built a small settlement called Peng Lai, one of the few farming areas in the Elysium Sea, where goat herding is central to the economy. Many old Khitan customs and traditions survive here.
