Nature Spirits

Creature, Spirit Entities

The weakest and commonest spirits, invisible beings dwelling in all natural substances. They start about six inches tall and grow half a foot every two centuries; a shaman may summon one for a single brief service. Five elemental kinds exist.

Also called Elemental spirits, Nature Spirit

From the book

Nature spirits are the weakest and most plentiful of all the spirit races. The naked eye normally cannot see them, yet they are found throughout the natural world, living in every kind of substance, organic or not.

They are roughly human in shape and begin at about six inches tall. Every two hundred years a nature spirit gains another half-foot of height along with a matching rise in power; although they never die, few ever grow past eight feet.

Like many of the Sidhe, they have little love for most humanoid races. They can cross between the spirit and material planes whenever they please but seldom stay in bodily form for long. A shaman who summons one can have it perform a single service, as long as the task takes no more than an hour; shamans can bind them into service, and practitioners of Low Magic can also summon them.

There are five kinds, each made of its own element: water, fire, wind, earth and wood spirits. Every one of them can inflict magical energy damage with a touch. That touch deals a point of damage per level. A water spirit can find things lost in its domain, a fire spirit can set combustible material alight, a wind spirit can repeat conversations it overheard in its domain, an earth spirit can tell of events it witnessed there, and a wood spirit can make plants grow or bear fruit. A nature spirit stands six inches tall for each level it has reached, from 1st to 16th.
