The caster surrounds himself with a dome of anti-magical energy 1 ft. out from his body. Inside it no form of magic can touch him, but he cannot cast spells out through it either. It gives no protection against ordinary creatures, weapons or forces. It lasts 1 minute per level of ability.

A scene
The duel in the courtyard of the Society of Magical Arts and Sciences in Tang was supposed to be purely a matter of spells, and the sorcerer Guo Rui has prepared well. He surrounds himself with a faint gray haze, and his opponent's lightning splashes against it and fizzles away to nothing. So does the next spell, and the next. Guo Rui, unable to cast back through his own shield, waits smugly for his opponent to run out of magic. His opponent's large apprentice steps forward and punches him in the nose.
