Weapon and armor pricing

Rule, Equipment

Listed prices assume average-quality goods bought in a big city or trading port; scarcity, quality, primitive materials and antiquity all shift the price.

From the book

The listed equipment prices are for goods of average quality purchased in a big city like Atlantis or Tartessos, or at a major trading port. In places where such items are scarce, prices may climb by 20-200% or further.

Rougher weapons edged with stone or bone, knives and axes for instance, generally cost around a quarter as much as their metal counterparts, unless they are rare or exotic. Goods of inferior quality may go for as little as half price, whereas superior goods cost twice as much or more, particularly for exceptionally fine craftsmanship. Items that are ancient, antique or rare, even the plainest sort, may command anywhere from 1 to 100 times list price.

Chain mail and full suits of plate are rare in the Atlantean world, where only dwarves and elves have the skill to make them.
