Shields
Rule, Combat
Carrying a shield protects the shielded flank, improves parries and allows shield-bashing.
From the book
A shield brings three advantages. Its bearer can never suffer an undefended attack from the side the shield covers. When the shield is used to parry, the defender adds +2 to the die. It can also be used offensively to batter or ram a foe for 1-6 points of bludgeoning damage, with +2 to hit; an attacker who accepts the standard non-proficiency penalty may try to knock the opponent down with the blow.
