Shield quality for saves
Rule, Combat
Shield materials map to object-quality grades when saving against breakage, such as when parrying.
From the book
When a shield has to save against breaking, most often after parrying a cutting or bashing blow, its material decides which quality grade it uses under the rules for saving throws of inanimate objects. Wooden and animal hide shields count as inferior quality unless they are exceptionally well made. Bronze and copper shields are treated as average, and iron shields as superior.
