Ring of Elemental Summoning

Like a Ring of Demon Summoning, this ring calls a lesser elemental of the type set by its maker. Once a day the wearer can call up a lesser elemental of the type the ring's maker specified without drawing a Circle of Protection or Thaumaturgic Triangle, and it is always the very same one. That cuts both ways: once the creature has been bound by a pact it obeys the wearer from then on, but if it is ever slain the ring loses its power forever. Rings come in many kinds and sizes, most made from 1/4 to 1 oz. of metal and often set with gems or engraved with arcane symbols and inscriptions.

As a greater magic item its magic is permanent and renews itself each day. Making one calls for the materials of a minor magic item and two months plus two weeks for each level of the spell it holds, with a 99% chance of success; one offered for sale usually costs at least twice its materials plus 2,000 G.P. per week of enchanting. It counts toward the seven magic items a person may carry or wear at once; go past seven and none of them works.
