Auditory Enchantment

Spell, Enchantment, level 2

Produces one sound effect: mimicking a known voice, throwing the caster's voice, or making an object speak a set phrase when approached.

From the book

The caster chooses one of three sound effects. Mimicry lets the caster copy the voice of any human or humanoid they know well, for 1 minute per level of ability; it does not let them speak a language they do not already know. Ventriloquism lets the caster project their voice in any direction, as far as 10 ft. for each level of ability, also for 1 minute per level.

Phantom Voice enchants a non-living object so that it speaks a set phrase of no more than 12 words whenever someone or something comes near or touches it. It is most often used as an alarm against thieves and trespassers. There is no save.

A scene

The thief had worked for two nights to get into the jeweler's back room in Bersheba, and at last his fingers closed around the pearl box. The box spoke in a loud, cheerful voice: Put that down, thief. The Queen's guard is coming right now. He dropped it, bolted through the window and kept running until he was three streets away. The box sat on the floor, silent. The guard was not coming at all. The jeweler's magician had set the warning weeks ago, and it had just paid for itself many times over.
