Beastmaster's influence
Rule, Optional rules
A beastmaster's level against an animal's level gives the roll to influence it, or automatic calling, befriending or mastery.
From the book
This table resolves a beastmaster's attempts to sway an animal or creature. Cross-index the animal's level (1 to 17 and up) with the beastmaster's level (1 to 24 and up) to find the roll needed or an automatic result.
At equal levels the beastmaster needs a 10. As the beastmaster pulls ahead the number drops to 6, 4 and then 2; after that the animal is automatically called (C) for two further levels, then automatically befriended (B), and at seven or more levels above it is automatically mastered (M). When the animal is the higher level, the number rises to 12, 14, 18 and 20, and beyond that the beastmaster cannot influence it at all.
Attempts to befriend carry a -1 modifier, and attempts at mastery carry a penalty as well. No beastmaster can befriend or master an animal or creature above 16th level by this ability.
