An alchemist shapes a clay golem beside copper furnaces and a homunculus in a jar, with whales drifting past a sunken city beyond.

Sedative

Alchemy, Herbal remedy

Puts the user into restful sleep and doubles the benefit of any healing taken with it, but waking early leaves the sleeper groggy.

From the book

A mix of asarabaca and yarrow, the Sedative sends the patient into a restful sleep within 1-4 minutes, lasting 2-8 hours. If the patient also takes a healing remedy or potion, the amount healed is doubled. Waking the sleeper before it wears off leaves him groggy and unsteady, with all combat and spell abilities halved.

Herbal remedies are the simplest healing magic there is. The maker takes the choicest parts of a whole plant (fresh or dried herbs both work), rather than a weighed amount, and boils them in a fluid ounce of clear water in a small pot or bowl. The work takes 40 + 1-20 minutes with a 99% chance of success, and a ready-made remedy generally sells for about 100 G.P.
