Alchemical shorthand sign standing for dram; the book offers these as optional flavor or as substitutes for written abbreviations.

The alchemical sign for the dram. As a solid weight a dram is three scruples, and eight drams make an ounce; the fluid dram is the matching liquid measure.
The alchemical signs are included as optional color, and a player or Game Judge may write them in place of ordinary abbreviations whenever he or she likes.
